The information below will help you to discover what kind of jeans will work for you and are suitable for your body style.

Different Jeans Styles

Low-Rise
Low-rise jeans sit below your natural waist. Such jeans are available in straight cut, slim fit, bootleg and wide leg. If you do not wish your midriff to be seen once you move the arms, dress up a longer shirt with your low-rise jeans

Wide Leg
Such pair of jeans usually sits at your natural waist or just below it. The seat and thighs of these jeans has rather loose fit. Wide leg jeans are available with larger and deeper pockets. This kind of jeans usually has a straight, slightly tapered cut from the thigh to the ankle.

Flare Cut
This type of jeans suits for many body types. Usually the jeans sit below your natural waistline being slightly loose through the leg. They were designed originally to wear with cowboy boots. However, they may be worn on any occasion: no matter whether to your office or a romantic date.

Straight Cut
This classic type of jeans usually sits at your natural waistline. They should be slim through the seat and thighs. The cloth skims your silhouette and the leg looks long, tapering off gradually and slightly at the ankle.

Men's Body Type and Jeans Style

Tall and Lean
Straight-cut jeans greatly suit you if you have a tall and lean body. If you have wider hips you can wear flare – cut jeans. Tall and lean men can dress up wide-leg jeans. Keep in mind that being dressed in such pair of jeans the man looks casual. That is why it is preferable to keep them for the weekends but not for casual Fridays.

Slender
Do not wear wide-leg jeans or any that stick closely to your body. It is better to dress up straight-cut and low-rise jeans. They will perfectly suit you as slightly flared jeans do. If you wish to have a more ample-looking rear choose the pair with back pockets with flaps or extra material.

Athletic
To show the shape of an athletic and muscular body look for jeans with a wider leg and smaller back pockets. To avoid your muscles looking overly bulky do not wear jeans that adhere too close to your body.

Heavy-Set
To hide your physical minuses choose the wide-leg jeans and avoid wearing flare-cut jeans. Of course, do not wear too baggy jeans because they create the look of larger body. Select a loose shape with a few extra inches that will allow seeing the shape of your body without showing your frame too closely.

Women's Body Type and Jeans Style

Pear Shaped Figure
If you have a pear shaped figure then you are rounded and larger towards your bottom and thighs and then you slowly taper as you work up your body. Your bottom half will look larger than your top half, so when choosing jeans you will want to find a pair which gives you an illusion of a smaller bottom half to help give your figure balance.
Low-rise jeans with a boot cut will help to give you the balanced look which you will appear best in. As low-rise jeans start below your waist they will make your bottom appear smaller. The width at the bottom of your jeans will not cut your figure off at the ankles like tapered jeans would and will give you a better over all appearance.

Apple Shaped Figure
If you have an apple shaped figure then you have a rounded figure which is fairly equal on the bottom, middle and top areas of the main trunk of your body.
Unlike the pear shaped person, you would be best to avoid low rise jeans as they will allow your stomach area to protrude over the top of them. Jeans which are a few centimeters higher at the waist will help to give you support and make your figure appear leaner, although avoid jeans with very high waist as they will make the top half of your body appear shorter.
Flared, or boot cut jeans will help to give your figure balance and to take the emphasis away from the roundness of your main body.

Hour Glass Figure
If you have an hour glass-shaped body then you will have a small waist and a larger chest and bottom. You will be curvaceous.
Although your waist is tiny and great to show off, it is best to avoid jeans that go in tightly at the waist area as they will make your bottom appear larger. Jeans with regular waist, hipster or low rise will suit you the best. You should be able to wear straight legged, flared or boot cut jeans.

Straight Up and Down Figure
If you have a straight up and down figure then you will be slim and have few curves.
With jeans that nip in snugly at your waist you can start to give the impression that you do have some curves after all. You can wear low rise if you intend to also wear a tight tee shirt that shows that you have a waist. Skinny jeans with what is known as a drainpipe leg will look great on you.

General Tips for ALL

Finally, those of you who have large legs, bottom and thighs will look best in jeans that are made of reasonably thick denim. Thin denim will show any lumps and bumps where-as thick denim will hide them and make you look smoother.

If you are slimmer then you can get away with wearing jeans made out of a thinner material as lumps and bumps won’t be a problem to you.

Pockets on the bottom make the bottom look larger, so only get jeans like this if you want to create that illusion.

Jeans which have lots of buttons, as opposed to a zip, make the stomach and abdomen area look more bulky, so bear this in mind when choosing your jeans.
