Broken Umbrella - keep it for a rainy day

Lets face it, we all have irresponsible friends and family members that drop round our house on a wet rainy day without an umbrella and as they leave they ask if they can borrow yours. You have two options: either lie and say that you don't own one or give them your umbrella and you know that you will NEVER see it again. Your guest will either lose it, brake it or fail to give it back to you. So I have a simple idea for such a situation. Retain your old umbrella, even if it is slightly broken, and give it to your guest without fretting about ever seeing it again. At least you won't have to waste money buying a replacement. Sometimes holding on to a broken item, as long as it is somewhat functional, is not a bad thing.
