5 Secrets to Perfect Skin

Five Easy Steps to Getting and Maintaining Perfect Skin

Always Wash Your Face Before Bed

Going to sleep with a full face of makeup on, together with dirt and oil that accumulates during the day, can lead to clogged pores, pimples and inflammation.

The cleansing process should only take a minute. Using cleanser and lukewarm water, wash your face in circular motions, then pat dry your face.

Take Care of Your Skin While Sleeping
Night is the ideal time to use creams or serums that restore moisture and prevent and treat signs of aging. During the day, UV rays, wind and pollution can damage skin, but as you rest, skin cells are renewed.

Look for night creams with ingredients like ultra-moisturizing hyaluronic acid, protective antioxidants and anti-aging peptides and retinol. Next, pick your consistency. A lightweight serum is perfect for all skin types and can be used under moisturizer. A cream is more emollient and ideal for drier skin. Apply your formula to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area.

Exfoliate Skin Weekly

You should exfoliate your skin at least once a week. This removes dead skin, which not only reveals fresher, more radiant skin, it also prevents clogged pores and reduces the likelihood of breakouts. It is also thought that exfoliating skin boost skin-plumping collagen production.

If you have sensitive or dry skin, exfoliate once weekly. Otherwise, aim for two or three times a week. You can exfoliate after washing or simply use an exfoliating cleanser.

Use Eye Cream

The eye area needs hydration to stay healthy, but it’s also prone to puffiness and dark circles, so your regular face moisturizer might not cut it. In addition, skin here is delicate, so using eye-specific retinol and antioxidant-based products minimizes the chances of irritation.

Pick a formula that addresses your specific concerns, if you have any. If you don’t, a simple moisturizing gel should suffice. Apply the eye cream using your ring finger to lightly pat product on the delicate area under the eyes.

Protect Skin Against UV Rays
Minimal exposure to UV rays can cause damage to your skin – even if you are just sitting by a window. This kind of incidental exposure adds up over time and can lead to freckling, brown spots and reduced collagen and elastin.

Choose a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30 or higher with full spectrum protection, UVA & UVB. Be sure your sunscreen formula is packed with vitamins A, C and E, as well as, green and white tea extracts and idebenone to combat free-radical damage. Make sure to apply your sunscreen even on a cloudy day, since your skin is still exposed to UVA rays, which cause skin damage and aging.
