Spicy and Tangy Chick Peas

Ingredients

15 oz can chick peas
½ medium sized red onion finely sliced
¼ tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp olive oil
1 jalapeno deseeded and finely sliced
2 tbs tamarind chutney (store bought) or substitute with balsamic vinegar and lemon juice
1 Roman tomato roughly chopped
1 tsp dried mint
¼ Garam Masala (if not available, use ground black pepper)
Salt to taste


Instructions

Saute onions and cumin seeds in oil in a pan
Drain the can of chick peas and add to the pan
Combine all other ingredients with chick peas in the pan and mix well
Season with salt and garam masala

Enjoy this dish as an appetizer and serve either hot or cold. The recipe should yield two servings.
