IS TOWEL DRYING YOUR HAIR GOOD OR BAD?

How To Dry Your Wet Hair Properly Without Causing Any Damage

Source

Since the beginning of time, we've had the habit of drying our hair feverishly with a towel as soon as we step out of the shower. That said, this wrong practice must be stopped ASAP. Our hair is on of our our most prized possessions and we want to keep it healthy and shiny at all times!

Surprisingly, drying wet strands with a thick bath towel can seriously damage the mane. This one mistake can be the cause of major hair problems. Vigorously rubbing your wet hair with a towel can lead to excessive hair breakage and hair fall. Its thick absorbent fibers when rubbed with the hair actually do more harm than good.

The hair can also become extremely frizzy as the towel ruffles up the cuticles of the hair. Moreover, the weight of the towel itself pulls down the hair, causing vulnerable strands to break. It is to be kept in mind that the hair gets more elasticated when wet, making it more prone to breakage. So using a traditional towel to dry the soaking strands, can be the worst thing for it.

Reaching out for a thick towel and wrapping your hair up in a turban is not suggested either, even though some dermatologists suggest wrapping a towel to absorb the water from the hair.  In fact, the coarse texture and dryness of a cotton or terry cloth towel can also damage the hair. Your best option is to use a microfiber fabric towel or a t-shirt. Its finer threads are gentler and absorb the right amount of moisture from the hair and reduce the frizz.

That being said, air drying is one of the healthiest options out there to dry your hair. You just need to make this simple switch in your routine for a major change.

The overall condition of your hair is always going to matter. This is why rubbing your hair with a towel intensely isn't recommended as it can cause split ends. Just a gentle press to remove the excess moisture is all you need to do and then simply air dry.  Also, the quicker you remove the excess water from your hair, the less it will swell and frizz.

Concluding Remarks

So, from now on, apart from spending your time and money on expensive hair-care products and therapies, such as keratin treatments and smoothening spas, make sure to avoid rubbing your hair with a rough towel. It might permanently harm your beautiful mane.
