Research Suggests That Men Should Actually Sit Down To Pee

Source

Standing up to pee is one of the greatest gifts granted to men. It’s quick and easy and particularly useful in public bathrooms where you are unsure of the level of cleanliness of a toilet seat.

Surveys have found that It is becoming increasingly more normal for married men to sit when they urinate, presumably to avoid seat drips and the wrath of their fuming wives.

Research has found that there are a number of health and wellness benefits associated with sitting while urinating. For this reason, ALL men, married or not, should be encouraged to sit. In fact, countries such as Sweden and Japan are actively encouraging men to sit as they are becoming more aware of the health benefits.

Health Benefits

Standing activates muscles around our lower abdomen, pelvis and spine that actually prevent proper urination.
  • Sitting provides a more favorable urodynamic profile (stronger urine flow), which helps ward off prostate problems.
  • When you sit down, you can use your abdominal muscles more, and you can get your last few squirts out, giving you a feeling like you've emptied better.
Further problems with standing arise when men engage extra pee-stifling muscles while using public toilets. This is because the muscles engaged to hold in loud and embarrassing farts are also muscles involved in preventing further urination.
  • Men should make every effort to avoid urinals in a public bathroom and take a seat to get a more complete urination and let out a fart if necessary.

Other Benefits

Here are some additional benefits of sitting that you can reap.
  • More hygienic as urine is less likely to drip onto the toilet seat or splatter all over the bathroom floor.
  • A perfect opportunity to take a break and sit for a moment and reflect on the day and recharge while efficiently emptying the bladder
  • Keep roommates or women in your lives happy
